In one minute

Anxiety treatment is an evidence-based course of psychotherapy — built on CBT — that targets the thinking patterns and avoidance behaviours keeping anxiety going. For generalised anxiety, social anxiety and panic, a structured protocol of roughly 8–16 sessions is typical, with progress tracked on measures such as the GAD-7 and the Beck Anxiety Inventory. Sessions run in person in Antalya or online. — Berk Mete, MSc (GMBPsS), Mete Psikoloji

Key Summary

An anxiety disorder involves excessive, hard-to-control worry. Generalised anxiety, social anxiety and panic disorder are the most common presentations. CBT and exposure-based therapy are the evidence-based methods recommended as first-line approaches in clinical guidelines worldwide.

What Is an Anxiety Disorder?

Anxiety disorders are a group of mental health conditions characterised by excessive, persistent worry, fear and apprehension that interfere with daily life. Generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety and specific phobias are the most common forms.

Types of Anxiety

Generalised Anxiety

Excessive, hard-to-control worry across many different areas of life

Panic Disorder

Sudden surges of intense fear, with a racing heart and breathlessness

Social Anxiety

Intense anxiety in social situations and fear of being judged

Specific Phobias

Disproportionate fear of particular objects or situations

Our Treatment Approach

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is widely regarded as the most effective psychological method for anxiety. It focuses on identifying and changing the thinking patterns that trigger anxiety, reducing avoidance behaviours and building coping skills.

Throughout treatment, progress is tracked with validated measures such as the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and the GAD-7.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the signs of an anxiety disorder?+
Persistent worry that feels hard to control, restlessness, muscle tension, difficulty sleeping, poor concentration, irritability and physical symptoms such as a racing heart. When these interfere with daily life, work or relationships, structured psychological support is worth considering.
How does CBT help with anxiety?+
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy identifies the thinking patterns and avoidance behaviours that keep anxiety going, then works on both systematically. It is one of the most researched psychological approaches for anxiety, and structured protocols exist for generalised anxiety, panic, social anxiety and health anxiety.
How long does anxiety treatment usually take?+
Every situation is different, so we do not promise fixed timelines. Structured CBT work for anxiety is typically organised in blocks of sessions, and progress is reviewed together at regular intervals using measures such as the GAD-7.
Can anxiety therapy be done fully in English?+
Yes. The entire process runs in English — assessment, sessions, between-session tasks and progress reviews. Founding psychologist Berk Mete completed his MSc at Birkbeck, University of London, and trained and practised in English.
Do you work with relocation-related anxiety?+
Yes. A large part of our English-language caseload involves expats and international residents of Antalya. Moving country can amplify existing anxiety or trigger new worry about health care, finances, paperwork and belonging — all of which respond well to structured CBT work.
Are online sessions an option for anxiety treatment?+
Yes. Research shows online CBT performs comparably to in-person sessions for anxiety. You can attend from anywhere in Turkey or abroad via secure video, or combine online and in-person sessions.
