Who You'll Be Working With

Berk Mete, MSc, GMBPsS

Berk Mete is the founder of Mete Psikoloji in Antalya and a clinical psychologist. He completed his MSc in Health and Clinical Psychology with Distinction at Birkbeck, University of London — with the top dissertation of his cohort — and is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS, #763717). He works with adults using CBT, ACT and Schema Therapy, and sees couples with the Gottman Method — in person and online. For English-speaking clients this matters in a practical way: therapy with Berk is not translated therapy. He formulates, thinks and works in English at a clinical level, having trained and practised in the language in London.

Where & When

How He Works

Method, Measurement and a Warm Relationship

The foundation of the process is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): together you map the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and work through the cycles that hold you back with concrete, agreed goals. Every session is structured, and progress is reviewed with standardised measures (PHQ-9, GAD-7) rather than impressions — so at each stage you can see where you are and what is changing.

Where useful, ACT and Schema Therapy are woven into that foundation: moving towards your values instead of fighting difficult feelings, and recognising long-standing patterns that formed early in life. His training in IPA methodology — received directly from its founder, Prof. Jonathan A. Smith — places understanding your experience from your own perspective at the centre of the work: not the surface narrative, but the deeper layers of what you actually live through.

All of this unfolds inside a warm, safe therapeutic relationship. From the first meeting, goals, the shape of sessions and how the process works are discussed openly with you; there is room for your questions at every stage. Sessions can be held in person at the practice in Antalya or online on an encrypted video platform — the same clinical frame is kept in both formats.

Berk Mete, MSc, GMBPsS — clinical psychologist, Antalya
“Therapy is not only about easing symptoms. Real change begins where we open a space in which a person makes sense of their own story and lives more authentically. Every client carries a unique world — therapy is the safe place where we explore it together.”

What are Berk Mete's qualifications?

After his BA in Psychology at FMV Işık University, he completed the MSc in Health and Clinical Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London — one of the UK's research-intensive universities — graduating with Distinction; his dissertation, supervised by Prof. Beth Grunfeld, received the highest mark in his year. Is Berk Mete a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS)?

Yes. He is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS), membership number 763717, which can be independently verified through bps.org.uk. He practises within the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct and is one of the few psychologists in Turkey practising clinically as a BPS member.

Which therapy approaches does Berk Mete use?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the primary frame; Schema Therapy and ACT are integrated into it depending on your needs. For couples he uses the structured Gottman Method combined with Emotionally Focused Therapy. Progress is tracked with standardised measures such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 — change is visible in numbers, not guessed at.

Does Berk Mete offer therapy fully in English?

Does Berk Mete offer online sessions?

Yes. Online sessions run on the practice's own encrypted, browser-based video platform — no app to install — and follow exactly the same clinical framework as in-person work.
